Ending speculations about their possible transfer to another network, Dingdong Dantes and Judy Ann Santos signed a new talent contract to stay with their respective mother studios.
Over the weekend, with the presence of GMA Network bigwigs, Dingdong ecstatically announced that he has been loyal to the network for 15 years now. And he would be delighted to extend his stay with the network even for more years.
Dingdong enthused that he has spent almost half of his life with GMA-7 that supported his career when has just a struggling teen actor. He even got the push and the guidance he needed during the times when he felt his career had no direction.
Days after he signed a-five-year contract with the Kapuso Network, people started calling him a superstar, a title that reinforces the moniker “Kapuso Primetime King” given to him by GMA-7 nonetheless.
Is he really worthy of the moniker or is it just a token from GMA-7 because of his undeniable loyalty to the network? Sure he is already a big star but the superstardom status is quite not fitting to an actor whose popular appeal still depends on the star he is paired with.
Meanwhile, after dropping heavy hints that she’s entertaining network transfer, 35-year-old Judy Ann signed an exclusive two-year contract with ABS-CBN last week.
The contract signing came a few weeks after Judy Ann said she received contract offers from other networks, following the early exit of her primetime soap, Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.
With a fresh contract, Judy Ann’s first will be the game show Bet On Your Baby, which was presented to the entertainment press during the finale press conference of Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala. The reality show is a franchise of an American television game show that features families with toddlers. The contestants play to see how well they can guess their child’s next move in order to win money for their college fund.
There are other celebrity moms who are more fit for the job but Judy Ann got the assignment simply because just like Dingdong, she reaffirmed that her mother studio will always be her first option.
For two decades now, ABS-CBN has proven that it can still make Judy Ann’s star shine amid the influx of fresh faces and better talents. And we believe network loyalty is the only reason behind this, nothing more.
