Are they afraid that the phenomenal success of Be Careful with My Heart on television won’t translate into box-office magic?
It was a sad news for the fans of Ser Chief and Maya (played by Richard Yap and Jodi Sta Maria, respectively) when Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairperson Francis Tolentino announced that the movie version of the phenomenal television series will no longer be part of this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
According to the government official, in a letter sent to his office by Star Cinema, the scheduled participation of the movie version of the romantic-comedy series will no longer push through because the cast and crew are in tight schedule shooting almost every day for the ongoing television series.
The decision of Star Cinema is nothing but logical. Although most of films in the annual film fest are only shot in a few months time, compared to the better films we see in Hollywood that take even years to finish, pushing the limits of the stars and staff involved in the making of the movie is not a wise decision. Had they decided to push through, this movie would just be an extension of Ser Chief and Maya’s love story blown up for the silver screen.
