Finally, after 3 attempts at the Binibining Pilipinas beauty contest, the 26-year-old engineer and entrepreneur from Tulunan, North Cotabato emerged victorious after upsetting 39 other hopefuls at the pageant’s 51st edition held Sunday (March 30) at the Araneta Coliseum. No less than the reigning Miss Universe, Gabriela Isler of Venezuela, helped crown this year’s set of winners.
In 2011, the 5-foot-seven Lastimosa won the second runner-up title in the Binibining Pilipinas 2011 pageant, placing behind Shamcey Supsup, Dianne Necio, Isabella Manjon, and Janine Tugonon. In 2012, the Fil-Arab beauty again competed at the Binibining Pilipinas 2012 pageant, where she landed amongst the 12 semi-finalists.

During the question and answer portion of the pageant, Lastimosa was asked: “What is the advantage of being a woman?” She replied “confidence and being able to compose herself”:
The pressure is on insert as she tries to equal or surpass the recent good standing of the Philippines in the Miss Universe competition: Maria Venus Raj was fourth runner-up in 2010, Shamcey Supsup was third runner-up in 2011, and Janine Tugonon was first-runner up in 2012. In 2013, Ariella Arida was named third runner-up in the Miss Universe pageant, with Venezuela’s Gabriela Isler taking the crown.

Meanwhile, Mary Anne Guidotti was named Bb. Pilipinas-International, Parul Shah was named Bb. Pilipias-Tourism, Yvethe Marie Santiago and was named Bb. Pilipinas-Supranational.
Bb. Pilipinas–Intercontinental, the fifth and newest title given at the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, was given to Kris Janson.
