Stars become lesser mortals

by Isah V. Red and Nickie Wang

It’s the time of the year when movie and TV stars become lesser mortals again. At least, for the next week or so. Most of them hie off to places where the populace don’t recognize them at all. Kris Aquino, whose ubiquitous face and easily recognizable voice and affected speech can’t spend a quiet vacation even in the very private Amanpulo resort, so after the Filmfest awards tomorrow night, she and BFF (best friend forever) Liz Uy whose romantic episode with President Noynoy Aquino, Kris’ brother, of course, didn’t prosper, will fly to Bali, Indonesia for what she calls “Eat, Pray, Love” vacation.

Cats, the second longest-running musical on Broadway, defines our understanding of the nature of animals. Like humans, they also have a clan with mixed and contrasting members. The reason why this musical lasted so long is because it has a very simple story that we can easily relate to. It’s about acceptance, dispute, and victory. Continue reading

People 5.29.10

…are talking about

Barbie Forteza and Joshua Dionisio

These young stars are fast becoming teen sensations. Although bad PR sometimes make young onscreen couple looks stupid in their actions, Barbie and Joshua are still appealing among teens and different age groups. This is probably the reason GMA is maximizing their popularity with another follow-up on First Time. Barbie and Joshua will soon star on Pilyang Kerubin, which is another series for teen romance. It is also their third team up with Stairway to Heaven and First Time. Continue reading

James Yap on financial literacy campaign

By  Nickie Wang

Sports celebrity and Kris Aquino’s husband James Yap does not see himself quitting basketball, not in the next five years or so. But if he reaches 35, and feels that his body can no longer sustain the physically demanding sport, then he would bid hard court goodbye rather than to feel embarrassed missing some shots, something he executes with complete ease and precision.
