Maggie Wilson

She slammed the critics of her pre-nup video that became a trending topic among Filipino netizens. Conservatives called her video racy, inappropriate and even close to being pornographic. But one thing for sure, it made Maggie and beau Victor Consuji the talk of the town and their wedding this December, the most anticipated nuptials this year (Sorry Ogie and Regine). The statuesque former beauty queen was quick to defend the video saying that it’s their own decision and if people find it offensive then “don’t watch it at all.” The infamous video features Maggie and Victor in very steamy scenes, so as the couple says, watch at your discretion [pleasure]. Petrang Kabayo is a certified blockbuster

It’s already difficult for local films to earn more than 100 million pesos but Petrang Kabayo starring Vice Ganda, and a remake of a fantasy-comedy 1988 film topbilled by Roderick Paulate, is already on its way to breaching it. After two weeks of commercial release, the movie produced by Viva Films has grossed over 81 million pesos.

Other films that earned more than 100 million pesos this year are Miss You Like Crazy (P143.25 M) Here Comes the Bride (P116 M) and You to Me Are Everything earned (P102.42 M). Meanwhile, Star Cinema offering entitled I Do, and stars onscreen sweethearts Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee, has grossed 42.39 million pesos after four weeks at the box office.

Will you buy discounted movie ticket?

by Nickie Wang

Last week I visited an ice cream shop in SM North Edsa and passed by the busy area where the cinemas are. While finding my way in a crowded place, I noticed some Sa ‘Yo Lamang movie posters hanging on the ceiling. These posters were plastered with a short message: “P100 only.” I inquired and was told that the movie ticket is being sold almost half the original price.

That strategy, which appeared to be more of a bait if not a desperate move to lure moviegoers, instantly gave me the impression that Star Cinema’s family-oriented flick already failed at the box office. The message couldn’t have been more attractive if there was a catchphrase like win a date with one of the cast members, Enchong Dee or Shaina Magdayao perhaps. Continue reading

Aga Muhlach

aga_muhlachAbout eighty people, close friends and relatives of Aga and wife Charlene, were flown to Pili in Camarines Sur (Governor LRay Villafuerte loves to call his province just CamSur) and back to Manila for a four-day action-packed vacation. Aga celebrated his 40th birthday and there’s no other way to make the people who are dear to him happy but to treat them with a lavish party overflowing with food and drinks. Most of them are Aga’s disciples and so they joined him in his latest addiction -wakeboarding. The newcomers…do they have a choice…but try it as well. Those who couldn’t be coaxed played tourists around nearby Naga City.

Bianca Manalo

The local franchisee of the Miss Universe pageant thought her family name would bring luck to the country. No, it didn’t. A lot of beauty pageant experts (who call themselves pageantologists) said that she was the best performing Asian delegate this year but too much politics failed her bid for the title. But why blame it on the politics? Ten years and it has been like that, there must be something wrong with Mrs. Stella Marquez-Araneta’s way of choosing the girl for the pageant. She is a Colombian, so she should know that the pageant is too Latina-obsessed.

Luis Manzano

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and surely his rumored break up with Angel Locsin didn’t just come from someone who is trying to ruin their relationship. The actor has been quiet about the issue and chooses to divert the attention to his upcoming movie with mom Vilma Santos and John Lloyd Cruz. According to the grape vine there are two sides to the story, both of which either Luis and Angel don’t want to reveal. So, everyone is busy making a wild guess.

Katorse

katorseAfter several months of being shelved, the series was finally aired last Monday. The bad thing is that the pilot episode is an epic fail if we are going to base it on the data released by AGB Nielsen. The viewers are laughing at the network’s decision to put an overaged Erich Gonzales in the lead role – she is definitely not 14 and doesn’t even look it. Everyone at that time seems to have been hypnotized to watch the rival network’s program. Perhaps Kris Bernal and Aljur Abrenica are more tolerable to watch.

Carlo J. Caparas

All of a sudden, this controversial personality has just expressed willingness to run for a public office after a group protested that he be given a National Artist award. He said it’s time for him to fight for the rights of people being marginalized by people with influence. Carlo has found another way to soothe his aching heart….shoot a movie starring Manny Pacquiao.

Willie Revillame

Do you think Wowowee is better off without him? While Willie is on an extended vacation, the noon time show still performs well in the ratings race. The program is actually even more entertaining now that Pokwang, Valerie Concepcion, and Mariel Rodriguez are the only ones who host the show. Maybe Willie could further extend his vacation and let these girls handle the entire program.
