Angel Locsin’s ‘Iba ‘Yan’ holds benefit concert for drag queens affected by lockdown

Kapamilya Channel’s public service program Iba ‘Yan trains the spotlight on the fabulous Filipino drag queens whose livelihood was greatly affected by the quarantine as the show holds an online benefit concert tonight at 7:00 on ABS-CBN Entertainment and Iba ‘Yan Facebook pages.

Titled “Kinang,” the concert will feature performances from different talented drag queens. Apart from providing entertainment, the show aims to raise funds for LGBTQ entertainers struggling to earn and make ends meet due to the pandemic.

Those who would like to donate may deposit to ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Inc.’s BDO savings account 005630050932 (Mother Ignacia branch). Hosted by comedian Negi, the event will feature show-stopping numbers from drag queens Aries Night, Zsashing, Racing Chat, JCourse, Cherry Pie, and Marina Summers.  But before they take centerstage, they will first meet host Angel Locsin for an episode of “Iba ‘Yan” where they will share their stories and talk about their constant struggles as performers, especially in this time of pandemic.

First aired in June, the show earned praises for shedding light on the heartwarming stories and everyday heroism of Filipinos. Some of its notable stories include the plight of senior citizens Tatay Jimmy and Nanay Emily who were helped by the show to travel home, have a renovated house, and own a sari-sari store; the jeepney drivers of Balintawak who received relief packages, medical checkups, and free acrylic shields for their jeeps that passed the standards of LTFRB; and the shoe repairman Mang Rey who was granted a free space commercial space and new equipment for shoe repairing.

Beginning this August, Iba ‘Yan starts streaming on the newly launched Kapamilya Online Live on Facebook and YouTube, while simultaneously airing on Kapamilya Channel every Sunday. To be updated to the extraordinary stories shown in “Iba ‘Yan,” follow the show on Facebook (fb.com/IbaYanPH), Twitter (@IbaYanPH), and Instagram (@IbaYanPH).
