AFTER a very successful first cycle, which saw a lone Filipina contestant make it all the way to the finale, an all-new season of Asia’s Next Top Model finally premiered on TV5 on Jan 16.
TV5 is proud to have Joey Mead-King in the prestigious international contest as she is also a Kapatid, being a Style and Beauty columnist in Kristn.com, TV5’s lifestyle portal.
Joining them this time are two renowned icons in the international modeling industry—runway coach Adam Williams and fashion and celebrity photographer Mike Rosenthal—who will definitely add to the excitement and drama in the competition’s second cycle.
And just like the inaugural season, the Philippines is once again represented in this regional model search. This time around, there are two Filipino beauties who are ready to walk the runway and come out on top— Jodilly “Jody” Pendre and Katarina “Kat” Rodriguez.
At age of 20, Jody already is her family’s breadwinner, relying on modeling to put herself and her brother through school. This go-getter dusky beauty, who dreams to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel, describes herself as a “simple girl who is always up for life’s challenges”.
Meanwhile, 21 year old Filipino American Kat proves models, too, can be beauty, brains, and brawn all at the same time as she currently majors in both philosophy and business management, while being part of her university’s track and field team. This beauty, who is the godchild of Filipino supermodel and style icon Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez, admits she is a “huge risk-taker and extremely adventurous.”
Aside from carrying the distinct looks of Filipino women that she hopes would set both she and Jodi apart from the 14 other aspiring model finalists, these two young ladies also have inspiring stories that a lot of the viewers can relate to.
Tune in to TV5 every Thursday and follow the journey of Jody or Kat. Who between them will take home the grand prize for our country and come out on top as Asia’s Next Top Model?
