PETA braces for “Rak of Aegis”


Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) has recently concluded its auditions for its newest production “Rak of Aegis”.

 
Starting end of September, hundreds of aspirants flocked The PETA Theater Center to audition for PETA’s rock comedy musical.
 
The play is the next collaboration of award-winning playwright Liza Magtoto and PETA Artistic Director Maribel Legarda after the success of the comedy musical “Care Divas”.

“Rak of Aegis” features the songs of the band Aegis arranged by actor-musician Myke Salomon.
 
After PETA announced the auditions via Facebook, droves of theater actors and personalities auditioned for the roles last September 25-26 and October 10.
 
The aspiring cast members were required to prepare the Aegis songs such as Halik,Luha and Sinta, and to read portions of the play.
 
“I was pleasantly surprised with the number of those who auditioned, including TV personalities, which made me more excited to do it,” Legarda said. “It only means that there are people who really love the music of Aegis,” she adds.
 
The brand-new rock comedy musical is set in a subdivision that has been flooded for two months, “Rak of Aegis” will revolve around the love interests of the main characters, whose names are derived from those of Aegis band members as a tribute to the Filipino novelty rock group that made waves 90’s.
