Kapamilya stars dominated an awards night that recognized talents of various artists in television and movies. The winners were chosen through popularity vote via SMS and online poll.
Among the big winners were Angel Locsin (Actress of the Year), Coco Martin (Actor of the Year), John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo’s It Takes a Man and a Woman (Movie of the Year), and Kim Chiu and Xian Lim (Love Team of the Year).
Yet, all of these awards became rather insignificant when Marian Rivera emerged as the brightest star of the night. The Kapuso star was the Celebrity of the Year, the highest honor given to a nominee in that event.
Amid numerous controversies and bad publicity, the 28-year-old star received a total of 182,744 votes to win the title. Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo finished second with around four thousand votes shy to win the coveted plum.
This recent victory of Marian just came a few days after she was hailed the sexiest woman on the planet by a popular men’s magazine. In March, her acting ability was recognized by the Entertainment Press Society Inc. bestowing her with the Best Actress award for her role in the epic series, Amaya.
So why don’t her fans watch her movies or her shows on TV? Are they just “token” fans?
