ACTION thriller On The Job with Piolo Pascual and Gerald Anderson may just get a Hollywood remake.
In a recent interview, Gerald was ecstatic while disclosing that Tom Cruise and Mark Wahlberg’s camps have expressed their interest in doing a Hollywood version of the Erik Matti-helmed film. According to the actor, the director who is also the producer of the film had a series of talks with the camp of the actors after the film’s run at the Cannes Film Festival in France.
The good news followed just after the producer of On The Job signed a deal with foreign distributor Well Go USA Entertainment to release the action movie in North America.
Early this year, when the trailer of On The Job was released, it immediately received rave reviews from movie critics because of its different take on mainstream movies. Not only it explores the sullied and filthy side of the metro, which most mainstream films wouldn’t dare show on the big screen, it also experiments in authentically deglamorizing its main actors.
Case in point, in the movie, Gerald was roped in to play an untamed and crazy-eyed inmate temporarily released from jail to become a contract killer for corrupt politicians.
Piolo, on the other hand, plays a National Bureau of Investigation agent who runs after the first.
Touted as an indie film in mainstream format, the crime film will be distributed in the country by Star Cinema later this year. It will also be released in Australia through Madman Entertainment and in some parts of the world through XYZ Films.
