Philippine Comedy King Rodolfo Vera Quizon or popularly known as “Dolphy“, passed away on Tuesday July 10 at around 8:34 p.m. It was confirmed by his partner Zsa Zsa Padilla, according to breaking news of ABSCBN. Dolphy was 83.
In 2009, Dolphy was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. As a result, his public appearances lessened, and was frequently admitted to the hospital. On June 16, the veteran actor was admitted at the Makati Medical Center after complaining of shortness of breath.
Dolphy came from humble beginnings, and his admiration of comedians Pugo and Tugo influenced him to be a stage performer. Golay was hist first screen name, and he used it for his first movie with Fernando Poe Sr., the father of his friend the late action king Fernando Poe Jr.
Dolphy started his first TV Show, Buhay Artista, at the ABS-CBN channel with a talent fee of P1,000 pesos. That was soon followed by many shows and movies.
Dolphy had a relationship with six women including Alma Moreno, an actress he met in 1981 and by whom he had one child: Vandolph. He had 18 children. His last partner was actress Zsa Zsa Padilla.
