If there is one fairy tale princess that seats on top of the princess hierarchy, it is definitelySnow White.
She wose skin is white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony is poised to make the grandest comeback as two films about her will be released – “Snow White and the Huntsmen” this summer and “Mirror, Mirror” come spring.
All of these silver screen offerings are preceded by a wonderful musical, coming to life this side of Hollywood, as Gantimpala Theater gives cheer and love this holiday season with “Snow White at ang Pitong Dwarfs!”
With book and libretto by J. Dennis C. Teodosio, music by Frederic John Ferraz, and under the direction of Tony Espejo, “Si Snow White at ang Pitong Dwarfs” is a modern take on the life of this fairy tale princess. The much beloved story is funnier, lovelier, filled with adventure, musical numbers and romance.
In musical incarnation, audiences meet: Reyna Ines (Ma. Melissa Gigante), and find out the reasons why she gnashes her teeth at the very sight of the lovely Snow White (Rita Iringan); Mara (Michael De Vera), the mysterious and entertaining salamin, who never tells a lie; Tootsie (Elizabeth Barquin) and Herminigildo (J Young), proxy parents and Badong (Bham Sumooc), the talking pet dog.

Of course, the lovable Pitong Duwende, Totoy Laki (Morris Sevilla), Cesar Asar (Marvin Mendoza), Danny Smiley (Darby Dizon), Bob Hikab (Mark Tulipat), Igme Tameme, (Carlos Niño Percil), Kiko Hatsing, (Vian Serranila) and Totoy Liit. (Julius Davis).
Director Tony Espejo says, “This musical will definitely make you adore and love Snow White even more. We are loving her, not only because of her beauty, but because of her kindness, melodious voice, and believe it or not, because of her mouth-watering dish of adobo.”
Helping Espejo realize the fairy tale world of Snow White are Gean Allain de Leon (associate director), Joseph Matheu (lights designer), Jose Jeffrey Camañag (set designer), Albert Figueras (costume designer), Carlos Niño Percil (choreographer), Raymond Talavera (production manager), and Paulo Nino Dimacali (stage manager).
