Star Cinema and Viva Films’ No Other Woman is breaking box-office record. According to an official of ABSCBN’s production outfit, the movie has breached the elusive P100-million-mark in just 5 days. But the number of movie tickets sold is not real buzz about the film. Our apologies to Derek Ramsay and Cristine Reyes but “other woman” Anne Curtis is clearly the stand out in the movie. Her love-it-or-hate-it character in No Other Woman emerged as the most talked about part of the big screen feature leaving Derek and Cristine’s characters languish in the background. It’s also good to note that Anne’s movie lines have been a favorite topic among moviegoers, furthermore they even use them as their facebook status or twitter post.
If you didn’t go out last Sunday night, you were probably one of the couch potatoes glued on their television sets watching The Kitchen Musical. The series, which “fuses music, drama, dance and food together, and work as a story,” stars local artists Karylle and Christian Bautista in the lead roles (a plus point why it is a hit among Filipino audience). The debut episode was seen in 19 countries across Europe and Asiamaking it one of the biggest Pan Asian series launched this years. Due to the overwhelming audience reception, producers of The Kitchen Musical are planning for a second season as early as now.
Some say, the Kapuso primetime queen is under the illusion that she is still the most popular television star of her generation. She was probably the most-talked about Kapuso talent when she played the lead in Dyesebel, MariMar and Darna, but when they ended her star seemed to have joined the ranks of those stars that were able to advance their career but eventually found it difficult to sustain their popularity. In all fairness to Marian, she can still be considered as a bankable star and is still very much loved by the mass audience. If her star is really fading, GMA-7 wouldn’t extend Amaya until January 2012. It is supposed to end in November.
