Kapamilya star Diether Ocampo celebrated his 37th birthday last month through a benefit golf tournament participated by his close showbiz and non-showbiz friends. The proceeds went to Knowledge Channel and Kids Foundation, which has been the actor’s major charity for the less fortunate.
For those keenly interested in the actor’s life, however, it’s not what he did on his birthday that mattered. They are more concerned about Diether’s age. Most male celebrities his age have already settled down and are starting to raise their own families. Yet Diether, or Diet to his friends and fans, despite being good looking, rich, and witty (characteristics most women look for in a man), remains single and is currently loveless.
Though the Guns and Roses star’s love life is back in the tabloid after some rumormongers started linking him to Kris Aquino, the hunky actor cleared that he is enjoying being single and channels his energy to worthy causes at the moment.
“My love life is an open book, and people know that. This time I’m not in a rush. I want to perform all my obligations first before settling down. Like earlier, I have just finished shooting for Guns and Roses and it took a lot of my time. If I’m with someone right now, it would be unfair for her if I can’t spend time with her,” Diether told the press during the official launch of Pizza Hut’s hot on a dot delivery campaign.
Diether dated at least one other celebrity before marrying Kristine Hermosa in 2004. The marriage was brief after a court order declared it null and void from the very start. Since the end of his marriage to Kristine, who is now happily married to Oyo Sotto and is will soon be a mommy, Diether got involved in another relationship, which many people thought would also end in marriagea. His affair with fashion buyer Rima Ostwani ended after two years.
According to Diet, though he is presently considering having a new inspiration again, it will take time for him to get a new love.
“But of course I miss having an inspiration. I would like to have someone to talk to or someone who would motivate me to work harder. Every man needs an inspiration who will lead him to the right direction. I know for a fact that it’s not also good to just work and work,” Diether related.
He quickly added that it does not matter if the person is a showbiz personality or not as long as she understands his work.
In the mean time, apart from his busy entertainment career Diether devotes some of his time to his seven-year-old son, whom he introduced to the public only in April this year.
