Many have often wondered how Sarah Geronimo, amid her age, is able to stay on top and maintain her fame. The explanation could be sheer luck or it could be that Sarah is in the right place and at the right time making significant career choices.
The truth is, although she is already a big star and she is always been confronted by many challenges in her career, Sarah does not remain complacent. As a matter of fact, the effort and concentration she puts in everything she does are the same amount of energy she has been dedicating to her career since the time she started in showbiz.
“It’s not about being a perfectionist, it’s about finding what is lacking in everything I do whether it’s a concert performance or just an ordinary guesting,” Sarah told the Standard Today.
In a recent meeting with the entertainment press held on Jan. 21 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City, the Pop Princess arrived early together with her parents, and manager. She greeted everyone in her usual sweet and humble way before she settled in a round table designated for her and her entourage.
Sarah was all quiet. Her eyes were glued on the video wall situated on the side of the platform where she would later join the officials of Cebuana Lhuillier. On the video wall, Sarah’s performance on Asap‘09, taped sometime in November, was being shown. We asked her if she normally compiles her performances and watch them at home.
“We don’t have much time to compile all my performances most especially like this time, I’m busy shooting, but we make it a point to at least record some of them,” Sarah answered.
According to the young star, aside from watching other artists perform, watching her own self gives her an idea on how to improve her next performances.
“It’s always a different feeling every time I see myself on the screen and no matter how many times I watch myself, I still find certain flaws. These things serve as my guide to enhance my next performance. It’s like being your own critic,”the 21-year-old singer/actress said.
Mesmerized
The young artist is off to a good start this year. Currently she is busy shooting a film with Judy Ann Santos. Megged by Wenn Deramas, the movie is under Viva Films and has a working title, Hating Kapatid.
“It’s a light drama with comedy,” she started, “And believe me working with Ate Judy Ann is such an experience. She is so pretty and very kind. I’m mesmerized every time we’re together on the set.”
The film is going to be released commercially in April. It features veteran actors Gina Pareño, Cherie Pie Picache, and Al Tantay. Actor and host Luis Manzano plays Sarah’s love interest in the movie. The story is written by Mel Mendoza Del Rosario.
Answering even the strangest questions thrown by the press, Sarah remained patient and just answered all the questions with complete ease. Asking about her view on being the most desired leading lady of most young actors, here’s what she has to say:
“It’s flattering of course. It inspires me to work harder and give my best.”
A card’s weight in gold
We learned that Sarah’s tie up with Cebuana Lhuillier has been a good and fruitful two-year relationship

The pawnshop, which is growing rapidly into a financial institution, unveiled the loyalty card that gives its customers the chance to get more than their money’s worth.Using a simple reward system, regular customers can earn points and redeem them to save more on the services offered by the P.J. Lhuillier Group of Companies. Domestic remittance and pawning are among the transactions included in the reward system.
“We are more than just a pawnshop, we are already a financial institution. And we are making sure that we are able to serve each client based on their needs,” the Cebuana Lluillier official said.
