Seventeen-year-old Adriana Latonio earned a spot in the American Idol 2013 Top 20 after last night’s “Sudden Death” Las Vegas rounds. Ten of the girls took to the stage to fight for five spots and Adriana’s version of Aretha Franklin’s “Ain’t No Way” wowed the judges and she was put through.
Adriana is American Idol‘s first contestant from Alaska.
She gets a standing ovation from much of the audience.
“Now the night has started!” says Keith Urban, who says she had all the soul the song required.
Nicki Minaj wants to know how tall she is. “Five foot,” Latonio responds. From Minaj’s notes: “Little tiny thing but she commands the stage from the second she walks out.” She thinks Latonio is poised and ready. “Congratulations, my little ladybug.”
Randy Jackson says, “Yo! This girl’s a pro!”
Mariah Carey wants to know how she feels. “It went better than I thought it would,” the 17-year-old admits. “Really nice,” Carey tells her. “A+.”
